Facilitators
If a picture is worth a thousand words, an experience is worth a million.
Meet some of our AVP facilitators and their passions for volunteering.
Hi, I'm Soulful Suzanne!
I have a passion for helping people and connecting with others...
In 2016, I participated in my first in AVP gathering in prison. Before going that night, I questioned whether I would have anything meaningful to offer. What I quickly learned is that it's in our shared humanity that we find connection. I have received so much more through AVP than I could ever possibly give.
Now, years later my growing AVP family has changed my life in profound and unimaginable ways. Working together to realize violence is not the answer brings me joy and feeds my soul, thus my AVP positive adjective name is Soulful Suzanne.
And I'm Mighty Mary!
I like bringing people together in conversation.
I began my AVP journey in 1998 at the invitation and encouragement of my friend and the initiator of Omaha AVP, Sister Marian Klostermann.
AVP & all of the people involved have been amazing in my life's journey. I fondly remember the many workshops we have done together, the countless sharings that occurred in the workshops & outside of workshops. You are all very special to me & have helped me grow & become a better person. I am so glad that you have been a part of my life.

AVP give me a chance to connect with so ,many different people, including
incarcerated men. I benefit from their
honesty and openness. Their love and sharing is very moving.

The potential of this program is well-stated by one participant: 'I've learned in this workshop to think differently.'
That's what it's all about.
Shining Sharon
Hi. I'm Sharon Palmer, and I found AVP quite by accident. Well, no, actually AVP found me, and I am so grateful because this group has taught me the truth about life; the truth about this world we all live in. Wow. This is fun.
