AVP is one of the few programs I took while incarcerated that offered real life alternatives to conflict via dialogue. The secret sauce of the AVP program are the positive and insightful skills, knowledge and experiences shared by its outside volunteers and incarcerated peer facilitators. AVP is a program that potentially helps to make the community safer by offering alternatives to conflict to conflict prone individuals.

My experience with AVP has helped me grow both as an individual and within my community. I have met passionate people with shared and different lived experiences whose vulnerability and dedication to nonviolence and vulnerable communication is inspiring, particularly in today's divisive society.
